LBWCC child care facility to shut down

Citing a lack of adequate financial support, LBW Community College announced Wednesday it is closing the full-service day care at the child development center on the Andalusia campus.

“Although our staff operated a superb educational day care for children in the community, the income was never enough to cover the costs,” said LBWCC President Dr. Herb Riedel.

The day care option will cease as of Aug. 31, but LBW’s short-term certificate and the Associate in Applied Science Degree Child Development programs will continue.

College officials said the center provided day care for as many as 25 children.
